For the past 5 generations CA Lawton has produced castings and machined components for North America. Our quality castings provide strength and design integrity for equipment in the most demanding applications in the world. Because of strict controls and adherence to the Lawton process, we have developed into one of the best large casting iron and ductile iron foundries in North America.

With our growth and stability, we are looking to add a motivated, knowledgeable, and positive minded individual to our staff at a level of Quality Manufacturing Engineer at our Minster, OH location.

What you will do

The ideal Quality Manufacturing Engineer will provide support to the quality management team and inspectors, as well as the Foundry and Machine Shop by checking the progression of in process castings and machined parts.  Assist all staff to ensure quality standards are met and issue corrective actions as needed throughout the organization. Work with internal and external customers to interpret requirements and manage corrective actions in order to drive continual improvement.

Additional Duties (but not limited to):

  • Communication on Corrective and Preventative actions to customers
  • Manage inspections, Non-destructive testing for final products and first article
  • Determine and have continuity in inspection requirements based on customer specs
  • Analysis and evaluation of results on inspection and work for Engineering and Manufacturing departments
  • Train, mentor and coach employees on process, procedure, and compliance
  • Assist in managing inventory, scheduling, and overall quality control
  • Quoting and contract review

What you need to have

For this position, you must have a minimum 5 years’ manufacturing quality assurance/engineering experience. Knowledge of the Foundry, Machining and Tooling process including deep knowledge of NDT and layout inspections. Basic knowledge of statistical tools, ability perform root cause analysis and overall problem-solving skills. Additional requirements include having PC skills to include spreadsheet, word processing and conducting research, familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise, and being knowledgeable of safety, operating equipment, maintenance, and overall manufacturing operations. Bachelor’s degree preferred with related work history.
